Team Evissa get lost under a pile of materials, locks, chains and jewels…

Far East sourcing trips enable our UK and China teams to unite and get creative! Last month, our development team scoured the markets to find inspirational colours and prints for next Autumn/Winter. We start our research and development phase 6-12 months in advance to enable us to meet delivery dates for our client’s product launches. To keep our collections looking fresh, we also continually develop newness in-season.

Material Markets

At the leather market we saw a wide spectrum of colour ranging from classic monochrome to bright colour clashing combinations. Print-wise, we were spoilt for choice! Geometric, camouflage and animal prints were most prevalent.

Our procurers visit the faux leather (polyurethane) markets at least once a month to refresh our core material library with the most up-to-date season colours. Often, they’ll take sampling materials back to the factory and watch them being cut and sewn into a new bag sample ready to present to a buyer. The sampling process is meticulous and fascinating to watch, there’s nothing like seeing one of our designs come to life!

Trims Markets

Trend alert! The use of chunky CHAINS and JEWELS as an embellishment for bags and accessories is worth noting for the season.

chains

High end designers such as D&G, Miu Miu and Dior set the trend by incorporating lavish jewels and chains throughout collections, offering a feminine yet edgy take on classic hardware. We could have spent hours at the market swimming in trims; I mean, who doesn’t love a bit of sparkle?!
